The Coffee Den Story

The Coffee Den is located in the historic downtown Manchester, Iowa. The structure was built in 1876 with an Italianate architectural style. In the 1940’s, it was renovated into a new, upscale restaurant called ‘The Coffee Den.’ The Coffee Den closed in the 1960’s and was used by various businesses until 2007.

Penny & Mike Sebeny purchased and renovated the building in 2007, with the dream of creating a high quality coffee shop with the charm and elegance of a 130+ year old italianate architectural style building, combined with the sophistication of a modern coffee house. You will feel the old-world charm of the 19th century when you visit, highlighted by the painstaking restoration of the original tin ceiling and brickwork.

``This is what a coffee shop should be! The coffee is great and the ambiance is laid back and inviting. Hands down the best latte I've ever had! If I lived in Manchester year-round, I'd be a regular at this place.``

``...I had the Italian panini and it was wicked good. I'm not even usually a fan of paninis. I would definately eat here again.``
